Pastor Appreciation Ideas

There are many ideas that come to mind when celebrating a Pastor's Appreciation service or Anniversary. Not all ideas are good ideas when it comes to celebrating your pastor. It is always a good idea to know your pastors personal taste or style and you should consider his or her feelings when it comes down to publicly doing things for him or her. In the event you do not know your pastors personal taste it is always a good idea to ask someone close to him or her like a spouse or close friend. Sometimes, the pastor may have other pastor friends that you could consult with to get more details on his or her likes and dislikes.

In this article we will share some ideas that most churches and ministries have decided on in the past for their pastor and spiritual leaders. Again, the information contained here is for educational purposes only. You should consult with your committee before acting on or purchasing any of the products mentioned in this article. Some of the ideas are surrounded by personal taste of others and some were decided on by a committee of people.

First, one of the hot products now appearing in the pulpit is the Ipad Tablet or the Android Tablet. There is a very good reason as to why this is. Some people may consider preaching from a Ipad or Android device is simply for a show, which I disagree with totally. After doing a little research on this issue found out that preparing a sermon on these types of devices is rather easy and provides a very unique experience. They provide word processing apps where you can write the weekly sermon highlighting the text in different colors for point emphasis. Another cool feature that I found was a major advantage was being able to load different bibles which has different translations to word meaning. Some bible program apps have 10 different bibles that can be reference within the program. Which many of them also include the Bible Commentary which allow a deeper study guide for any pastor doing research on a particular topic.

Preaching and teaching from a tablet has many advantages and you don't have to be tech savvy to implement these strategies. We find that many pastor in this day and time really appreciate having such a study companion in a Ipad or Android Tablet. The prices of each tablet type range widely in price starting as low as $99 dollars and as high as $699. The more you pay the better and faster the device will operate. Having enough speed in any tablet is definitely worth the extra dollars. This is our top pick pastor appreciation ideas and or gifts for 2014.

Next, we will list an exhaustive list of ideas that you can implement into your pastor appreciation day or service. Pastor appreciation in most cases is honored in the month of October as this is National Pastor Appreciation Month each year. The list of ideas share in this article are for your review to determine whether or not these ideas fit your pastor or church setting.

Pastor Appreciation Day for Pastors

Pastor Appreciation Day

The month of October has been deemed National Pastor Appreciation Month for all Clergy, Pastors, Bishops, Apostles and Spiritual Leaders in the body of Christ. The entire month has been set aside to commemorate and celebrate all the Elders, Pastors and Spiritual Leaders that rule well. It is a time that allow the members of the church and all religious organizations to say "Thank you" to the leadership God has called to lead.

Preparation for pastor appreciation day in most cases should begin with a planning committee to oversee all of the planned festivities and events. The planning committee should be made up of a group of people that generally work well together and those who can execute and complete or finalize task in a timely manner. Pastor appreciation is simply about remembering your spiritual leaders as everyone and every person needs to be appreciated in some form or fashion.

Here are a few pastor appreciation ideas that will help you have a successful celebration in honoring your pastor.

  1. Plan a Banquet Celebration or formal dinner with formal attire

Pastor Appreciation Day should be celebrated annually as the work of the pastor will increase each and every year without fail. Encouraging your pastor should not only be looked at as an special event but rather a practice. Pastors go through the same hardship and life circumstances as everyday people in general. In so many words we are all regular people that face adversity each and every day. God gives us leaders that can help us through spiritual teaching and biblical principals to help us manage our earthly lives. Remembering the structure of this principal will help honor and appreciate your pastor and the ministry God has given him.

Pastor appreciation in its simplest form is just remembering your pastor, as it takes a special person to lead groups of people. Those in spiritual leadership positions have a great responsibility to lead, teach, pray for, console, instruct, help and assist their fellow brothers and sisters in becoming greater and better Christians. The definition of the word appreciate in its simplest form means: to be grateful or thankful for. Let us not forget or take likely what God has given unto us in Ministers, Elders, Pastors, Bishop, Apostles, Evangelist and Missionary's.

Make the best of your pastor's appreciation day for the bible says in 1st Timothy 5:17-18: 17. Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 18. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

Pastor Anniversary Month | Pastor Appreciation Month

Pastor Anniversary or Pastor Appreciation month is recognized annually in the month of October for all pastors of all faiths. It is a good practice to celebrate our spiritual leaders and teachers as they provide spiritual insight and revelation to and about our earthly lives. The work of a pastor is time consuming and at times extremely difficult due to the demanding schedule that is placed on many pastors. Many people may think that a pastors life is all glitz and glamour. This is not the case for true men of God that believe their mission in life is to help lost souls through biblical and Godly teaching. For this reason we celebrate our Bishops, Pastors, Co- Pastors, Evangelist during the entire month of October.

During the month of October members of all churches should honor their spiritual leaders for their commitment God and to the local church they serve. Many churches have a pastor's anniversary or a pastor's appreciation service where the church assembled for a annual church service dedicated entirely for the pastor. This event can be scheduled for one of the Sundays in the month of October or some churches elect to celebrate their leaders the entire month dedicating each week to their pastor. Whether you have a one day celebration or you celebrate the entire month I'm sure your pastor will be encouraged to continue the mission God has called him to do.

In writing about the pastor anniversary and the pastor appreciation I often see the argument that pastor should not be celebrated. On many occasions I've read statements that it is not biblical to honor, celebrate or appreciate a pastor. In the bible I read it is clearly noted in Thessalonians 5:12 which reads: And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. [And] be at peace among yourselves. Another scripture reference in the bible is Hebrews 13:17 which states: Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Now, in the day, time and society we live in we have introduced many traditions in our culture, faith and religion. We celebrate our pastors just as we celebrate our birthdays, weddings, retirements or any good thing to celebrate over. I believe this is where the idea of the celebration comes from. As human beings we have adopted the celebration aspect from parties, events, graduations, achievements and anything that is good. Well, I believe salvation is a good thing and by following the pastors teaching and spiritual advice only makes me a better person.

Pastor appreciation month in my opinion is a good thing! Every year I use to watch the Academy awards (the Oscars) of which famous actors are celebrate for how they portrayed a fictitious person. Fictitious means as stated on dictionary.com: created, taken, or assumed for the sake of concealment; not genuine; false: imaginatively produced or set forth; created by the imagination. So my argument here is that as a society we can celebrate actors that portray fake imagined people but not real people who do real things all year long. As I recall reading an article there are many actors that receive millions of dollars for what they do. I am not trying to discredit the movie industry in any way as I enjoy movies just like everyone else. I am in fact making a strong point that we should celebrate and appreciate those who spiritually guide us, teach us and pray for us all the time. The job of a pastor is pray for, watch over and teach the congregation, members and or followers as he/she communes with God the Father. In my opinion this is one of the greatest task that anyone could ever accept.

Pastor appreciation month was primarily designed to encourage the pastor for all the laborious work he/she does on a daily basis. If you ever have free time ask your pastor to tag along with him as he goes and do ministry work. You will see that he/she visit the hospital visiting the sick and shut in, counsels individuals, counsels the married, perform funerals and weddings, prepares weekly sermons for the congregation, teaches bible study, prays to God on a daily basis and watches over an entire church of people. being a pastor is not as easy as one may think, it is a very time consuming job to say the least. I encourage everyone to look at appreciating your pastor in a different light not the glitz and glamour that most people associate with being a pastor. It takes hard work and perseverance to be a n effective pastor. It takes great integrity to walk with God on a daily basis! Therefore, I salute all pastors of the faith and I encourage them to continue doing the work of the Lord. Happy Pastor's Appreciation Month to all Pastors!

Pastor Anniversary Gifts Pastor Appreciation Gifts

One of the most important things you can do in life is to give - it is better to give than receive in any case and this principle is a prime example of Christ giving his life on Calvary for our sins. This article will help you determine how you should celebrate your pastor and spiritual leaders for their teachings and insight into the spirit world. This teaching is so critical as it prepares you for the life-after this fleshly life.

First, you may attend a church that celebrates the pastor through what is called a pastor anniversary. On the contrary, you may attend a church that celebrates the pastor through a pastor appreciation. Both the anniversary and appreciation are one in the same but they have very two different meanings. Dictionary.com defines the word anniversary as the yearly recurrence of the date of a past event. The church may have a specific date or time frame that they celebrate the pastor each year and this celebration is always annually.

If you attend a church that celebrate the pastor through appreciation this may be slightly different. To appreciate someone it simply means: to be grateful or thankful for: to value or regard highly; place a high estimate on. Pastor appreciation may be celebrated during the month of October during Pastor Appreciation Month. But, this type of celebration may not be celebrated on an annual basis. Some churches celebrate their pastor fo an entire month while other churches celebrate their pastor by having a pastor appreciation day. May I stress this point to you now, you do not have to wait for any special or planned day. You can celebrate the man or woman of God anytime you feel lead to do so.

Pastor Anniversary & Pastor Appreciation Gifts
The question always arise what to give your pastor for his appreciation or anniversary celebration. Before deciding on a gift it is really good to know your pastors taste in things or what he really likes and may desire. In most cases people always resort to money as the only resort but I challenge you to look for a gift that you can present to your pastor or spiritual leader. A visa or master card gift card is a good choice so the pastor may go and actually shop for something. Here are a few things to consider as gifts for the pastor whether for personal giving or collectively giving from the church as a whole.

  1. A Paid Vacation
  2. Gift Card (Visa, MC, Amex, Discover
  3. Plaque, Trophy or Award
  4. Fine Dinning for Two
  5. Biblical Study Reference Books - not a bible
  6. New Ministers Robe
  7. Flat Screen TV - for the office
  8. Update the Parsonage or Living Quarters
  9. Ipad, Laptop or Notebook
  10. New Business Cards
  11. New Car - Transportation
  12. New Suits, Ties, Cuff links, Shoes
  13. Gym Membership, Golf Membership
  14. Sporting, Concert or Event Tickets
  15. New Cell Phone and Plan
This is just a sampling of the things you can give as gifts to your spiritual leader. Another great gift you can give is your time. Ask the pastor if he/she needs help in completing some task or if you can go with him/her for the day to assist him while working in the field.  Giving a helping hand can go a long with and will be greatly appreciated.

Last, always include the spouse of the pastor. By including the spouse you can get first hand information of any likes and dislikes in his or her taste. The spouse is a great resource for information as no one knows them better than the spouse. You can generate a list on paper of questions for sizes, colors, likes, dislikes and desires. The spouse can simply fill it out the question-are and return it without the pastor even knowing. This is a great tactic that can be utilize to get the information that is need to present your pastor with a great assortment of gits that celebrate him or her.

Celebrate your pastor anniversary or pastor appreciation with "Print Ready" Pastor Anniversary and Pastor Appreciation Programs. This is a great way to document the event and have an excellent tribute that the entire congregation can enjoy. The Pastor Anniversary Site is a great resource for programs for pastor anniversary and appreciation. They help churches each and every week celebrate their pastor and spiritual leaders.

Pastor Appreciation Banquet Dinner

A great idea to go along with your pastor appreciation service would be to have a Pastor Appreciation Banquet. This event would allow the congregation to have a formal night out of dinning and activities. Many people love the idea of getting dressed up in their finer things and attending a gala event. However, this will take some skillful planning by the pastoral committee or a group of people that can plan the event and that work well together.

First, its probably a good idea to find the venue where the event will take place. Fine dinning is somewhat costly and that goes the same for elegance. It is best to go out and actually visit a few places that you may know of or have researched on the internet. This research can be done in Google simply by searching for "fine dinning" and placing the city name immediately following your search term. Here is an example: fine dinning Los Angeles, fine dinning Dallas, fine dinning New York or dining hall in Washington dc. This will yield you the results you are looking for and give you a great place to start your search.

Next, after you carefully select a dinning venue its best to start with the food selections. This is a great task as there will be many people attending and everyone has different taste. May i suggest a broad range of food styles that will compliment everyone's taste. That can be accomplished by having a buffet with H'ors deurves or a sampling table of food before the main course. Let me tell you now that food can very expensive and the dinning hall will try their best to get every dime thet can for your event. May I suggest that you sharpen your negotiating skills before meeting with the dinning hall coordinators. May I also suggest that you do not have more than three main courses as this will definitely extend your budget. Keep it simple by having a form of fish, a chicken entree and some form of beef entree. You can have a little fun with the sides as to make things really entertaining and fun. Just remember this is the main area where the dinning hall can make the most money and things can go over budget.

Dessert: to keep things extremely simple it is best to have a cake made for the occasion and professionally decorated by a cake decorator. Along with that you can have the standard coffee and tea as dessert beverages along with ice water. Just having one cake made as the main dessert will save you time and money by using this simplistic approach.

Lastly, you should have and hire some good entertainment for the event. Here are a few suggestions: Gospel Band, Singer Songwriter, Comedian, Praise Dancers, Step Team, Drama Ministry and Mime Ministry. These are all great entertainment choices for the pastor appreciation banquet. And many of them are very reasonable in price especially if you book them early enough. Booking in advance may save you a few dollars here and there but pay attention to your overall budget as things can get out of hand quickly.

The pastoral appreciation banquet can be allot of fun as well as a night to remember. I highly suggest having a staff that can oversee this project and people that work well together. After all  we are all human and we all know sometimes personalities can clash if you put the wrong people to work together. It is best to select a group of people that either has worked together in the past or select a group of people that you already know can get the job done in a timely fashion.

Pastor Anniversary Pastor Appreciation Love Offering

The pastor is a very integral member of the church ministry. Their main goal is to lead and instruct the membership from an earthly to heavenly eternal life. Most pastors love God to the point that they will do whatever they can to ensure this transition. There are many pastors that do not receive an adequate salary or compensation and volunteer their services for the good of mankind.
One of life's most difficult jobs is being a pastor. The office of being a pastor is a selfless act shared with the congregation week by week. Each week a sermon is prepared with an underlying message to help assist and encourage the church members. This is often referenced as spiritual food for the soul, so you may remain spiritually strong in your earthly life. Every now and then your pastor needs to be considered for the exceptional work they have accomplished.
Often times, as members we tend to give the pastor more grief than anything, when in fact they need just as much encouragement as the rest of us. After all, they are human and will experience the same struggles and hardship that life has to offer. Being a pastor is not all glitz and glamour, it takes hard work and serious commitment to lead people.
Giving a love offering during the pastor anniversary could be the reward or encouragement that he or she needs. I do not mean just a simple pass around the offering plate as we do this every Sunday. But a sacrificial love offering that is prepared especially for him and his family. Doing so will allow him to do something special like take his family on vacation or take a getaway weekend with his spouse.
Think of it as a light Christmas gift that can benefit his or her family. Just think about it from their perspective. It takes persistence to preach and expound the word of God week after week after week. And I am sure that many pastors feel like their words fall on deaf ears. Encouraging your pastor with an annual celebration will definitely encourage him or her and their ministry. Some churches have a pastor anniversary, and some churches have a pastor appreciation. What you call the celebration is really up to the church and the pastor. God will lead your in the direction He wants you go in.
Remember, the offering is not about just monetary provisions, consider other needs such as: pantry foods, a new shirt and tie, handkerchiefs, or a new briefcase. Know your pastors taste in clothes and accessories. Don't just give money; give a gift as well to let the man or woman of God know how much you care. Try to provide gifts according to their needs rather than trying to impress him or her.
The bible says in the New International Version: Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. This principle can be applied in our everyday life as we should give with a cheerful spirit.
A great website to consider for pastor anniversary program is the Pastor Anniversary Site. We have a great collection of Print Ready program templates to choose from. Celebrate your pastor with a vibrant and color keepsake tribute that the congregation will honored to receive during the anniversary celebration.

Pastor Appreciation

If the Pastor at your church does a great job of taking care of the congregation, you may want to consider showing him how thankful you are with a pastor appreciation service. Pastor appreciation day is the perfect time that you and the other members of your congregation can get together and plan something really special for your pastor.
A pastor's job goes a lot further than just showing up at church for Sunday service. A pastor's job never ends. When he is not in front of his congregation, he is traveling to and from the hospitals and nursing homes. He is making sure that all of the members of his congregation who are sick still have a spiritual uplifting. When people are not feeling well, a visit from their pastor can make them feel better.
Pastors also have the spiritual responsibility of consoling others when they have lost a loved one. This in itself is a stressful task, but you will always be able to find a good pastor at the funeral home or at the home of the one who has suffered the loss. The pastor is trying to insure that they are going to be alright dealing with their current difficulties.
A good pastor makes himself available to the members of his congregation at the drop of a hat. It is a heart driven goal for him to be able to be a leader and an example for his local church members.
Finances can be a great burden for a pastor to carry also; he is solely responsible for the financial status of his church. In the hard economic times, he may have to lead many more fund raisers than he did in the previous years. He might have to spend more time working with the youth and young adults of his church, raising much needed money to insure that the youth have a place to go during the summer months like summer camp or vacation bible school. A good pastor will make sure that all of the children in the youth group at this church are able to attend and for that, he deserves to be appreciated.
You can rely on your pastor to pick you up when you are feeling down, he can send your spirits soaring just when you thought you were spiritually dead. He keeps everyone in the church abreast of what is going on in the community. He performs marriage ceremonies as well as funeral services. He performs baptisms, christenings and he hosts many functions at the church. It is a part of his job to help keep the church growing successful by doing all sorts of things to increase the membership.
Let your Pastor know how much you appreciate how much he does for your church, your family and your community by honoring him on Pastor Appreciation Day. You may want to consider having a luncheon or a dinner in his honor. You can plan a pastor appreciation banquet in his honor where everyone can dress in their best garments. You may elect to give separate gifts or you may give one big community gift. Whatever you decide to do for your pastor's gift remember your pastor deserves a time of appreciation.
